You are most
welcome to attend any of these short mid-week services which are
held throughout the year. By setting aside these times each day
to say the Daily Offices of prayer and praise, we are continuing
in the tradition of a Church and of a place in which this has been
done for more than 800 years.

SPECIAL SERVICES
& EVENTS
The Lake District
is a great attraction to those who wish to mount a special exhibition
or festival, and there is nowhere better than the environs of Cartmel
Priory. We see the Priory as a resource to be shared with others and
we will do our utmost to accommodate your requests and needs. The
village has many excellent places for eating and for staying overnight
or longer, with the larger hotels in Grange-over-sands only a couple
of miles away. It is a 'magical place' to which, once experienced,
you will return time and time again.
SPECIAL SERVICES AT CARTMEL PRIORY
Details of special services will appear here periodically. If you can, please join us.
**** Sunday 13th July at 10.45am. Eucharist set to Vaughan-Williams Mass in G minor sung by the Levens Choir.
**** Sunday 13th July at 3.00pm. "Praise on the Park" at Cartmel Racecourse Grandstand as part of our 2008 Mission "OUT OF THE BLUE".
SPECIAL SERVICES AT CARTMEL PRIORY
As well as the
services set out above, exhibitions of art and sculpture, and festivals
of flowers and of quilting, are held from time to time, making use
of the space and grace of the building.
Weddings
Most of our weddings are of couples from outside the parish who
sense that the Priory is the place where they would like to make
their solemn vows to one another. We will do our best to accommodate
couples for this special day.
Festivals & Services for Organisations
We have hosted festivals for the Mothers' union, the Women's Institute,
the Scout and Guide movement, and many others.
CARTMEL PRIORY - CONCERTS IN THE PRIORY
The Friends
of Cartmel Priory present the PRIORY CONCERTS.

MONASTIC MORNINGS
We are glad to be able to offer, to parties of schoolchildren between
the ages of 7 and 11, a morning of living history, sampling the monastic
life of Augustinian canons in the 13th century.
The children are dressed in monks' habits as a prelude to taking part
in many aspects of a novice monk's daily round. Senior 'monks' instruct
the novices in music, art and drama. We encourage them to experience
life in an enclosed order through imaginative role play in the unique
setting of the ancient priory.
On completion of the visit each child will receive a commemorative
certificate which acknowledges their achievements. The programme is
designed to meet many requirements of the national curriculum.
To arrange a Monastic Morning please contact Fr Robert Bailey.
GUIDED
TOURS OF CARTMEL PRIORY
This 12th Century priory has experienced an exciting history and visitors
will be shown how this Christian church founded in 1188 has developed
over the years. The daily routine of life in a monastery will be explained
and stories told of the battles with Henry VIII. Tales of witches,
together with those of a mermaid and a monkey will show how times
have changed over the years and take the visitor on an enchanting
journey leading to discoveries of their own.
Tours take place every Wednesday, from April to October, at 11.00am
and 2.00pm.
Adults £2.50. Children £1.00.
Tours can be arranged for groups at other times throughout the year.
